Remember Kunal Gowswami? Well, the flop star of actor Manoj Kumar's son was the co-star for Sridevi in this musical film (the song 'Neele Neele Ambar Par' being the chartbuster, best!). Kunal plays a small time chawl singer who is made to be a great playback singer through Sridevi's efforts. Both fall in love. Later, Kunal starts neglecting her. The reason: He suffers from cancer. And in the climax, both die hand in hand, puking blood. He from cancer, and she consumes poison.
The film was a average success, but the tamil original was a sensational hit. The film was titled Payangangal Mudiyudhilai.
