3 Superstars of South deliver Superflop with AAKHRI SANGRAM

Kamal Hassan, Sridevi and Rajnikanth are the three Super stars of Tamil cinema. The trio have always delivered award winning, applauded super hits down South. This film, originally a Tamil film 'Thaayillaamal Naanillai' (1978) was also a successful run. Rajnikanth made a cameo in the film, while Kamal and Sridevi played the romantic lead. It was dubbed in Hindi as 'Aakhri Sangram'. But, the dubbed version failed miserably. Sridevi plays Pushpa, Zamindar ki beti who falls in love with Raja (Kamal Hassan) a poor man. Pushpa's father wants to get her married to Mohan, a rich baddie. But on daughters insistence the father agrees. He asks Raja to get his mother home so that they can settle for the proposal. When the mother arrives, she is for a shock as she was a maid servant of the house years ago. The father puts a condition to the mother - to leave her son and go elsewhere and he will get her daughter married to her son. She agrees. Finally, son gets to know the sacrifice of the mother and he intervenes. Rest - do I need to say? All ends well in a Hindi (oops, Tamil film of course!). Illayaraja and Shankar Ganesh composed music for the film directed by Thyagarajan (the stunt master/villain of yesteryear). Thyagrajan is the father of Tamil hero Prashanth (the costar of Aishwarya Rai in Jeans)
