Subhash Ghai's multistarrer blockbuster on the lines of Ramesh Sippy's Sholay. Sridevi is paired opposite Jackie Shroff. She plays the south Indian Radha, daughter of a deshdrohi Satyanarayana. She fools Jackie to be Rita, a twin of Radha. Finally, after a few reels they are in love. Anil Kapoor and Poonam Dhillon is the other pair. Wait, this film is mainly on Desh Bhakti and Daridon ki Shakti (Dr. Dang).. Remember the famous Slap which Dilip Kumar gives Anupam Kher. 'Is Tapad Ki Ghoonj tumhe sunayee dhegi Raana'. The cast included Naseeruddin Shah, Nutan, Shakti Kapoor, Dara Singh, Bindu and the cute small kid Jugal Hansraj.
Many of you must not be knowing that - Subhash Ghai had already shot a mini dance number with Madhuri Dixit for the movie, which was later edited from the film. Laxmikant Pyarelal's music was a hit. Even to this day on every Independence Day, we get to see/listen to this song on Rangoli (DD) - Dil Diya Hai, jaan bhi denge, hey watan tere liye... Har Karam Apna Karenge, hey watan tere liye..
Other memorable songs were - De Daaru De Daaru/Ae Mohabbat teri dastaan ke liye/Maine rab se tujhe maang liya.. aah barde mere maang piya and the Anil Kapoor song - I am going to die! lol!!!
