Harmesh Malhotra directs his favorite Sridevi for the fifth time, back to back with this film. Their earlier combination was the super duper hit Nagina, followed by its sequel Nigahen and then came Sherni, Banjaran and this Heer Ranjha. This eternal love story Heer Ranjha has been made umpteen number of times in Hindi and Punjabi. Barring the yesteryears classic with Late Raj Kumar and Priya Rajvansh, all the other films that have come including the Anil Kapoor-Sridevi film have been flops at the box office. In this eternal tragic costume love story, Sri plays Heer to perfection and Anil Kapoor plays her lover, Ranjha. The film was in Urdu and although it was portrayed wel, it did not go well with the audience. There were about 10 plus songs in the film. Laxmikanth Pyarelal scored music to the film. And its surprise to you fans, but Sridevi designed her personal costumes for the film.
