HIMMATWALA was a box office blockbuster, it ran for 100 weeks in Jubilee Hills, Hyderabad and also did Golden Jubilee in Bombay. Thanks to Jeetendra, Sridevi had arrived and was labeled 'Thunder Thighs' for she exposed herself in mini costumes in the film.With this film, the Southie trend followed. Jeetendra (with a funny wig and a mustache) wins her heart and she helps him in all his duties of fulfilling his dream (of constructing a dam).
First he rags her with 'Ladki Nahi hai tu Lakdi ka Khamba hai'... and then they flirt with 'Taaki Oh Taaki' and in between, they dance to a hundreds of mud pots with 'Naino Main Sapna....Sapno Main Sajni'. The song became very popular and was in everyone's lips. Lata Mangeshkar and Kishore Kumar rendered their voice for Bappi Lahiri's exercise music.
