Rajesh Khanna grows up friendly with Padmini Kolhapure (she loves him, he doesn't). He loves Sridevi and she too loves him. But circumstances get him married to Jaya Pradha (she never knew that she would get married to him, because she wasn't in love with him). Confused! Forget it~!
Let me directly tell you the climax of the film. Pardon-me-kolhapure and Jaya Pardha hataa (lol) get killed by the villain! Thank the director! That leaves my darling Sridevi all alone... so true love wins. Rajesh and Devi unite only after they turn 60 (they are older then!). The films story is narrated in a flashback by Rajesh Khanna to his fellow passengers in The Train (hey, that was one of the hit film by Kaka in his earlier romantic days).
The film had a good number - Yeh Kya Huaaaaaaaa... Kya Huaaa.. that was picturised with lots of flowers and Sridevi with Rajesh Khanna's big mega size posters! The song was a regular one in Chitralok in Vividh Bharthi those days.
The film's original version was in Telugu, in which Vijayashanti played the same role that Sridevi played in the Hindi version.
