Hindi Audiences saw only one film of Kamal Hassan and Sridevi. i.e, Sadma. And thats quite a surprise having known that they both have teamed in umpteen number of Tamil films together and their pair was a successful one. And to encash their team, their South Indian films got dubbed in Hindi, unfortunately it did not reach many places in Hindi belt. One of such Tamil film was 'Guru' released in 1980. Directed by famous director of Malayalam films, I.V.Sasi, the film got dubbed in Hindi with the same title. It is another fact and co-incidence that years later, Mithun and Sridevi were paired in a film Umesh Mehra, titled Guru. And now years later, Mani Ratnam did a film with Guru, and that had Mithun in it. So, you see.. Guru gets recycled with Actors involving with it. Getting back to the film, the story goes thus: After a tragic assault leads to his mother's death, Kamal becomes a renowned cat burglar called Guru. As the police try -- and fail -- to catch Guru, he uses the wealth he steals to build an orphanage in honor of his mother. But when he falls in love with Sri, the past comes back to haunt him in unexpected ways. This film had some steamy sexier scenes of Kamal Hassan and Sridevi, as in - Sridevi exposing her thighs when Kamal gets to treat her as an old man. Mixed with comedy, fights, romance and Illayaraja - the film was very successful.
And getting back to the heading - Yep. Sridevi learnt a lot from Kamal Hassan who infact was the student of K Balachander (the Guru of Tamil Cinema) and Kamal trained Sridevi and helped her a lot in all his movies.. with regard to their chemistry that - worked wonders. Infact, Kamal Hassan and Sridevi were like siblings always together, acting, dancing, training - Kamal and Sri were students of Acting.
