Rajesh Khanna is a music composer happily married to Smita Patil without a child (note that). Sridevi is a maid servant in their house. She covers her beauty by applying black powder to her face. She does so, as the village gunda (Dalip Tahil) may not take her away! One fine day, when its raining heavily, Sridevi dances joyfully, Rajesh Khanna notices her dance and also notices her. Her real beauty is no longer hidden (thanks to the showers). Khanna makes her a top dancer and a model. In a rare sequence they both end up in bed (Smita Patil wasnt at home). Sri carries Rajesh's child and in the climax hands over the kid to the married couple. No, she does not die by consuming poison, she dies after killing the gunda. But, how? No one knows. Neither the audience had some clue. Probably the director should answer. One memorable song here goes: Jhan Jhana Na Jhananana Paayal bole! There are a few scenes in the film between Smita Patil and Sridevi, and they are mind blowing! This was Patil's one of the last releases.
