The film was originally a Tamil film titled 'Pagalil Oru Iravu' dubbed in Hindi as 'Nasheeli Jawani'. And when the Hindi got released, it actually created a controversy for the producers portrayed it as a sleazy film. Whereas the film has nothing sensual except for a song near the waterfalls in which Devi wears the shortest skirt of her career, looking like a school girl. Actually it was in the scene, when the hero (Vijaykumar) gets badly hurt and Sri nurses him by tearing a long skirt into a short one to clean his wound in the forehead, hence the skirt becomes too short.. And then a sensual song follows. This comes as a flashback to Sridevi when she is young, she later marries to another guy but refuses to be close to him.
Illayarja composed music for the film directed by IV Sasi. The Tamil film was a super hit and the Hindi dubbed one made some news, as it was the first Sridevi film dubbed from other language as she got popularity in Hindi films post the beginning of the 80s super hit earlier films with Jeetendra.
